Port General Manager Rory J. Respicio met with the University of Guam’s Professional Masters of Business Administration cohort on Saturday, January 7, 2023.

The General Manager discussed the role of the Port Authority of Guam as it relates to pre and post COVID-19 pandemic operations. At a time when government agencies and businesses were closing their doors to contain the spread of the virus, the employees of the Port Authority of Guam endured and the Port remained 100 percent operational allowing the uninterrupted flow of essential commodities into Guam.

Accompanied by Capital Improvement Projects Manager Clarence Lagutang, the general manager discussed leadership and effective management styles. Particularly how, in any management position, your ability to lead directly correlates to being able to identify the best approach toward effectuating progress. This means having to wear multiple hats, understanding the difference between intelligence (IQ) vs. emotional intelligence (EQ) and how, with experience, comes maturity.
